Alex Shabad joined WZZM 13 in December 2011 as a MultiMedia Journalist working out of Ottawa County. Alex came to Grand Rapids after spending more than two years in Rockford, IL as a reporter/fill-in anchor.
Alex is originally from the Chicago suburbs. He knew he wanted to be a journalist in high school. After a couple of college internships he knew he was on the right path. During his time at the University of Iowa, Alex interned at 20/20 in New York and NBC5 in Chicago. After he graduated, Alex worked in Grand Junction, Colorado and Evansville, Indiana.
Alex is very excited to be in Western Michigan, especially on the beautiful lakeshore where he will be covering most of his stories. In his spare time Alex enjoys working out and watching movies.
