The City of Grand Haven Planning Commission has scheduled a Public Hearing to gather citizen input on the following:
 
1. Case 10-21: A Public Hearing on a proposed text amendment to Article Five, Section 40 560. The proposed language would amend  the Special Land Use requirements for Sheltered Housing facilities to provide for a density/occupancy requirement.

2. Case 11-01: A Public Hearing on a proposed text amendment for Article Six, sections 40-600.03, Specific Requirements for One-Family and Two-Family Dwellings. The proposed language would amend the driveway material requirements to allow for porous, permeable driveway systems.

Political Pundit Kyle Melinn to Speak at Spring Lake District Library

Spring Lake, MI-Kyle Melinn, considered one of Michigan’s leading political pundits, will speak about the 2010 Michigan elections at Spring Lake District Library on Monday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. Melinn will provide an analysis of the major party candidates on the 2010 Michigan ballot as well as Proposals 1 and 2.  The event is free and the public is invited to attend. 

Melinn is the News Editor for Michigan Information & Research Service, Inc. (MIRS). MIRS provides comprehensive news and analysis of Michigan state government online at www.mirsnews.com. Melinn is also a frequent guest on the PBS show Off the Record.

Candidate Forums at Spring Lake District Library

Spring Lake, MI-The public is invited to attend candidate forums moderated by the local chapter of the League of Women Voters that will take place at Spring Lake District Library. The forum on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. will include the candidates who are vying for the state House 89th District and state Senate 30th District seats. The forum on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. will feature the candidates vying for the 2nd Congressional seat. Take advantage of these opportunities to learn where the candidates stand on matters that are important to you.

Village of Spring Lake seeks residents to serve on Village Planning Commission

The Village Council of the Village of Spring Lake is looking for interested Village of Spring Lake residents wanting to serve on the Village Planning Commission. The term of the appointment will be through August 2012. The Planning Commission meets the fourthTuesday of every month and reviews and approves all commercial, industrial, and Planned Unit Development projects and approves Zoning Ordinance amendments. Interested parties should fill out a personal profile form that can be obtained from the Village Hall office, 102 W. Savidge, Spring Lake or online at www.springlakevillage.org. Deadline for submitting an application is October 12th at 11:00 a.m. Village Council will interview candidates at the October 18, 2010 Village Council Meeting.
