GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Grand Haven Area Public Schools)— Grand Haven Area Public Schools Superintendent Keith Konarska is a "highly effective" leader according to school board members. The annual evaluation was given at a special board meeting held on Wednesday, March 26.

"Keith is a highly respected and admired educational leader of our district," Board President John Siemion says. "It is through Keith's leadership that our district is successful."

Konarska was evaluated in eleven areas including: Relationship with the Board; Community Relations; Staff Relationships; Business and Finance; Educational Leadership; Personal Qualities; Evaluation of Staff; Progress toward the School Improvement Plan; Student Attendance; Student/Parent/Teacher Feedback; and Student Growth and Achievement.

"Keith's 'Highly Effective' evaluation is a reflection of the tremendous success the district has had in the past 12 months," Board Secretary Joanne Query says.

Konarska has been superintendent in Grand Haven since 2005. Prior to that he served as the district's Assistant Superintendent of Human Services for six years.

"It is an honor to serve this school district and community," Konarska says. "I feel blessed to have this opportunity, and to be surrounded by so many dedicated educators whose number one priority is success for all students."

"I have the utmost confidence in Keith to always do what's best for our children and our district," Siemion adds. "It has been a pleasure to work with him since he arrived in Grand Haven."
