GHHS awarded grant to end distracted driving

GHHS awarded grant to end distracted driving

Grand Haven High School (GHHS) was recently awarded a $2,000 grant from Strive For A Safer Drive (S4SD), which provides funding and resources to help teens talk to teens about safe driving in the hopes of reducing serious traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities among Michigan's most inexperienced drivers.

GHHS's campaign, called "Bucs Above Distractions: b Alert, b Safe, b Bucked" kicked off in early January, running until the end of February.

"Our mission is to be pro-active instead of reactive," campaign organizer Dennis Threadgill says. "We want to educate student how to drive safely instead of scaring them into driving safely."

The "Bucs Above Distractions" campaign involves a variety of activities.
