The 3rd Annual Adirondack Auction, for the Northwest Ottawa County Chamber Foundation, has begun.  Six pieces, painted by local artists, have been placed throughout the community for view and bidding to take place.

Free Dome Theater Presentations for Kids at Spring Lake District Library

Spring Lake, MI--Kids will experience the cinema magic of the Dome Theater at the Spring Lake District Library on June 23, 2011 as part of the summer reading program, One World, Many Stories.  Dome Theater is a mobile digital theater that brings high quality shows on a wide range of topics.  The dome theater will be at the Spring Lake District Library from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with shows beginning every half hour.  Pre-registration is required for each show and space is limited.  Spring Lake District Library cardholders can register at any time and open registration will begin June 13th.  Show times and titles are as follows:

Summer Fun for Teens at Spring Lake District Library

Spring Lake, MI--Looking for a place to beat the heat this summer? Young people age 10 and up are invited to play Wii, Xbox , and PlayStation video games, enjoy free refreshments, and get crafty  during Teen’Scape at the Spring Lake District Library.  Teen’Scape will meet next on Wed., June 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Saint Mary's School's Annual Summer Festival To Be Held July 8-9

SPRING LAKE, Mich., June 7, 2011 – Saint Mary’s Church’s largest public fundraising event of the year?the annual White Elephant Sale and Festival?will be held July 8 and 9 at the church, 406 east Savidge Street in Spring Lake.  A raffle drawing for $11,500 will highlight the event.  The general public is encouraged and welcome to attend.

New this year will be a public fish boil, plus two children’s games called “The Berry-Go-Round” and “The Tumbler.” The Berry-Go-Round is a giant strawberry that twirls kids around and they control how fast the rides turn.  The Tumbler looks like a hamster wheel, whereby, kids are strapped in and go in circles plus upside down.

Saint Mary's School in Spring Lake Raises Over $31,000 in Annual Race for Education

SPRING LAKE, Mich., June 7, 2011 - More than $31,000 was raised in the fourth annual "Race for Education," sponsored by Saint Mary's Parish School.  The school is located at 421 east Exchange Street in Spring Lake.

“John Adams Unbound” traveling exhibition comes to Loutit District Library

GRAND HAVEN -- John Adams Unbound, a traveling exhibition opening at the Loutit District Library (LDL) on June 27 at 9:00 a.m., explores the personal library of John Adams, a collection of 3,500 books willed by Adams to the people of Massachusetts and deposited in the Boston Public Library in 1894. This remarkable collection of books provides first-hand insight into how John Adams shaped American history and how he was shaped through his lifelong dedication to reading and books.

"We are pleased to have been selected as a site for this exhibition," said John Martin, director of LDL. "John Adams’s dedication to self-education and intellectual reflection will be an inspiration to our library’s customers and to our community."

Sunday Art Market to start June 5

Join us for the second season of the Sunday Art Market, a juried market showcasing established and emerging artists from West Michigan.  You will find an ever-changing display of fine art and high-end crafts such as pottery, metal works, photography, jewelry, textile arts and more under the green canopy next to Chinook Pier at Harbor and First Streets.  The Art Market is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 5 and run through September 11 from 11 am to 2 pm.  There is a nominal fee for participating.  Artists can contact the Chamber at 616.842.4910 or email artistsms-sundayartmarket@yahoo.com to request an application.  Come explore the talents and creativity of our area artists.
