Congressman Huizenga to host Military Academy Night Monday, Nov. 28

Grand Haven, MI – U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, will host his second Military Academy Night to provide area students and their parents a casual evening to learn about the process involved in applying for admission to a U.S. Service Academy.
The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the United States Coast Guard Sector Field Office at 650 South Harbor Drive, Grand Haven. Liaisons from the five academies have been invited to provide information and staff from Congressman Huizenga’s District Office will be available to discuss the congressional nomination process.
“I admire anyone who answers the call to serve our country. It is a tremendous honor to be able to help any such motivated and brave young men and women from West Michigan in their application to the U.S. Service Academies and I look forward to meeting interested students and helping them and their families learn more about the opportunities available at the Academies,” Huizenga said.
The Academies include the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy, the Naval Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy.

The event will is geared toward High School juniors interested in applying to the class of 2017; however, students at every grade level who are interested in an education at a military academy may attend to learn more about the process.
The nomination process for the class of 2016 has closed and those nominees will be released by Congressman Huizenga mid-December.
