Peach Plains fourth graders to sing Christmas carols

Students in Mrs. Braymer's fourth grade class will be singing Christmas carols to residents at Sierra Lakeshore Assisted Living Home for their Christmas party on December 4 at 2:00 p.m. 

Peach Plains Elementary to host Turkey Bowl

Winners of the Peach Plains fifth grade flag football tournament will play staff members during the first Turkey Bowl on Tuesday, November 23 at 2:55 p.m. The PTA is providing hot chocolate for students while they watch the game.

Ken Formsma named 2010 Jingle Bell Parade Grand Marshal


Grand Haven, MI – The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg is pleased to announce that Ken Formsma has been named Grand Marshal of the 2010 Jingle Bell Parade leading this year’s holiday procession as it winds through downtown Grand Haven on Saturday, December 4th.
A West Michigan native born in Grand Rapids, Ken earned his bachelor’s degree in education at Hope College where he met his soon to be wife Jan. Following graduation they settled in Grand Haven where Ken began teaching at Mary A.

Loutit District Library announces Adopt-a-Book program

GRAND HAVEN, Michigan --Loutit District Library has the perfect gift for book lovers this holiday season.

This is the seventh year for the Adopt-a-Book for the Holidays project. It’s a great way to memorialize a departed loved one or honor a cherished family member or friend.

Visit the library at 407 Columbus Avenue, Grand Haven beginning November 26 for the opportunity to select a book to “adopt” and add to the library’s collection.

Choose an ornament from the tree in the circulation area with the name and cost of the item that will be purchased for the library.

GHHS Cross Country Team to be honored

The Grand Haven High School cross country tream will be honored at the Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 6, for their first place finish at the state competition. Later that evening, the Grand Haven City Council will recognize the team by presenting them a sign that will be placed at the city limits.

Rockford's Rouge River artists join Grand Haven artists for show, sale

Grand Haven, MI - The Fire Barn Gallery of the Grand Haven Area Arts Council is hosting an opening reception  from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the Gallery, 18 N. Fifth St. in Grand Haven.

The show will continue through Dec. 17.

“Local artists will debut their work at this first-time event,” said Linda Goss, show coordinator. “This is for artists, by artists, featuring many varied medias. This is a show you won't want to miss and the chance to see the premiere work by many local talents.”

Goss said over a dozen artists will display their works in watercolor, acrylics, oils, photography, jewelry, pottery and stained glass.

“With the upcoming holidays, local art makes a timeless and treasured gift,” Goss said.
