SPRING LAKE, Mich.--It’s not too late to sign up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment closes on March 31, 2014. This is the deadline to avoid a fine for not having health care coverage.

Health insurance marketplace information specialists from Cherry Street Health Services will be at Spring Lake District Library from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 to assist the public with enrollment. The trained counselors will be available to help people understand the health insurance choices available to them. Counselors will meet with individuals on a first come, first served basis.

Before going online to compare health insurance plans, gather the following information: Social Security numbers for each family member, employer and income information for every member of your household who needs coverage, policy numbers of any current health insurance plan covering members of your household, and a completed Employer Coverage Tool form for every job-based plan you or someone in your household is eligible for. The aforementioned checklist and Employer Coverage Tool forms are available at the library.

For more information call the library at (616) 846-5770.  The library is located at 123 E. Exchange Street in Spring Lake.
