Annual Chamber Jingle Bell Parade this Saturday

The Chamber’s 2010 Jingle Bell Parade will take place this Saturday, December 4 starting at 6:00 p.m.  The parade will travel west on Franklin Street beginning at 3rd Street to Harbor Drive, north on Harbor Drive to Washington Ave., then east on Washington to Central Park for the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree.  The tree lighting will include a carol sing with Santa and Mrs. Claus led by Capt.

Spring Lake downtown merchant window decorating contest

The Spring Lake CBDDA is sponsoring the annual Holiday Window Decorating Contest for the Downtown Merchants.

Judging will be done by Spring Lake Village Council on Monday, December 6th at 5 p.m. Patrons can vote for their favorite store front (People's Choice Award) by emailing mary@springlakevilage.org by December 6th. Winners will be announced during the Council meeting that evening.

Peach Plains fourth graders to sing Christmas carols

Students in Mrs. Braymer's fourth grade class will be singing Christmas carols to residents at Sierra Lakeshore Assisted Living Home for their Christmas party on December 4 at 2:00 p.m. 

Light Night set for Friday in downtown Grand Haven

Enjoy downtown Grand Haven as the lights begin to turn on in the trees for the first time in the holiday season. Participating stores will be holding their holiday open houses with excellent ideas for everyone on your Christmas list. Luminaries will be lining the street as we kick off the holidays!

GHHS Cross Country Team to be honored

The Grand Haven High School cross country tream will be honored at the Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 6, for their first place finish at the state competition. Later that evening, the Grand Haven City Council will recognize the team by presenting them a sign that will be placed at the city limits.

Soup For All Luncheon to raise money for homlessness

The Ottawa Area Housing Coalition, charged with the task of preventing and ending homelessness in Ottawa County, is holding it's annual Soup For All Luncheon at St Patrick's Catholic Church. For a donation of $10 you receive a soup lunch provided by local restaurants. This luncheon is designed to be convenient for people taking a lunch break during their work day. The money raised by this event goes directly to the fund to prevent homelessness at the Community Foundation.

White Pines' 7th Grade Welcomes Veterans

In honor of Veteran's Day, local veterans from the VFW and American Legion will visit seventh grade classes on Wednesday, November 10, and share their experiences with the students. This year, several members of the seventh grade student council have volunteered to bring in different foods for a lunch with the veterans.
