GRAND HAVEN, Mich. --  With the Supreme Court expected to hand down its decision on the Affordable Health Care Act this month, there’s never been a better time to join the conversation about the nature and future of healthcare in this country.

The public is invited to join the West Michigan Civil Conversation Project (WMCCP) to discuss “Healthcare: What are our individual and societal responsibilities” at the Loutit District Library (LDL) on Tuesday, June 19 from 7:00-8:45 p.m. in Program Room A.

The local project is designed to provide a place and process for people with wide-ranging views to share perspectives on the important issues of the day. The goal is not to come to consensus, but to promote listening, learning and a balance between inquiry and advocacy.

This is the fifth in a series of eight conversations planned throughout 2012 and the last before a summer break; the next conversation after the break will be held on September 18.

Participants are encouraged to stop by the resource table on the main floor of the library for suggested reads of the evening’s topic.

WMCCP is sponsored by LDL, League of Women Voters, and Progressive Women’s Alliance-Lakeshore and has been featured on WZZM, WGVU, in the regional print media, and recently caught the attention of Time magazine reporter Joe Klein, who is working to connect with the project on his current Midwest tour.

For more information about the project, send an email to wmcivilconversation@gmail.com or find the project on Facebook by searching for the West Michigan Civil Conversation Project.
