SPRING LAKE, Mich. – After a week and a half of campaigning, poster-making and giving speeches, St. Mary’s Parish School has elected its 2011-2012 Student Council Officers.

The student council meets every other week and performs many, many service projects throughout the year.  Projects and fundraisers for the school year include ongoing food drives, the annual poinsettia sale, planning Spirit Week, $1.00 Jeans Days and $1.00 Snack Days for the students.  The Council recently donated $3000 to the St. Mary’s Food Pantry from proceeds collected over the last two years from various fundraisers. 

The following officers were elected by their fellow students:

President:  Mairead Cooper, 8th Grade; Vice President: Emma Conroy, 8th Grade; Secretary:  Saebryn Peel, 8th Grade; Treasurer: Will Warmoth, 8th Grade; and Sergeant At Arms: Sydney Borchers, 8th Grade. 

Second through eighth grade student council members are selected by classroom election and are as follows:   2nd Grade: Isabella Padula & Nino Padula. 3rd Grade: Masen Carey & Gabrielle Easterly; 4th Grade: Rachel Thornley & Caitlyn Witvoet;  5th Grade: Gavin Alban & Isabella Schincariol; 6th Grade: Leah McKenna & Jack Pendery; 7th Grade: Ryan Alban & Jacqueline Olszewski ;  and 8th Grade: Morgan Carey & Christian Ostrowski.

First  grade student council members are selected by their teacher and are: 

1st Grade: Alec Hoffman & Carolyn Ladd.  The student council program Advisor is Ann Pendery, Saint Mary’s School Administrative Assistant to the principal.
