Students raise $1,268 for St. Mary's Food Pantry

On Friday, October 14, the St. Mary’s Preschool and Kindergarten students ran a .5K race in the gym. Prior to the race these classes procured pledges for their run to benefit the St. Mary's Food Pantry. They raised over $1,268.00 toward the purchase of turkeys for Thanksgiving Baskets.

On November 14, the Saint Mary’s Parish School staff and students in preschool through eighth grades held a food drive for Thanksgiving Baskets to be donated to the local food pantry.  The students in Kristen Christoffersens’ fourth grade class also designed and created cards to be distributed with the collected items.

According to school Principal Mike Devitt, “The students in each class are assigned one specific food item to bring in to fill the baskets.  Working together as a team, the students, families and staff help to provide a Thanksgiving meal to those who may not otherwise have the means to.  This is a great way to give back to the community and help to revive hope to those that may be struggling.  And the recipients always delight in the students’ hand made cards.”
