GRAND HAVEN, Mich.-- As part of its observance of National Library Week, Loutit District Library is again offering patrons the opportunity to exchange Food for Fines.

From April 12 through April 18, patrons can bring in non-perishable food or personal hygiene products for donation to Love INC and receive a waiver of $1.00 per item (up to a maximum of $5.00) off their current late fees at the library.

The food items most needed by Love INC include "Helper" cereal, spaghetti sauce, chunky and condensed soups, canned tuna and chicken, canned peaches, pears and fruit cocktail, applesauce, canned tomatoes, jams and jellies, peanut butter, pancake mix, syrup, and canned pasta.  No expired items will be accepted.

Personal hygiene products, such as toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, diapers (all sizes) and wipes, laundry detergent, soap, shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes and deodorant are needed as well.

Everyone is invited to donate food and necessities. Late fees are not a prerequisite. Drop items off at the checkout desk on the main floor of the library.
