-----NEWS RELEASE----

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg is pleased to announce that Kelly Larson will lead this year’s Jingle Bell Parade as Grand Marshal through downtown Grand Haven on Saturday, December 6.

Larson was honored this past May at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner as the 2014 Spirit of Community Award recipient for devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others and demonstrating leadership and initiative in the development of volunteer projects.

Larson is the owner of Temptations, Skoops, The Front Porch and Sweet Temptations. Over the years she has been instrumental in mentoring more than 700 teens and young adults through training and coaching in the ice cream business. In 2007 Larson started Cool Schools, a fundraising program at each of her locations that has returned $30,000 to 16 local schools.  In 2013 she introduced Shop4Schools giving businesses an opportunity to give a percentage of sales to a school designated by the customer.

Among her many accomplishments Kelly has assisted with fundraising efforts that include the Splash Pad, the Rotary D’Vine Event, and is a weekly contributor to Blessings in a Backpack.  Larson regularly sends candy and fudge treats to Sister Theresa in New York and to Love INC food pantries.

The 2014 Jingle Bell Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Ottawa County parking lot on Franklin Street on Saturday, December 6 under the direction of Parade Director, Dennis McKee and the Chamber Ambassadors. The parade will continue west down Franklin to Harbor Drive, north on Harbor to Washington Street and will proceed east on Washington to Central Park for the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. The tree lighting will include a carol sing with Santa and Mrs. Claus led by Capt. Jay Davis of The Salvation Army with accompaniment from the Prevailing Winds Band.  The Salvation Army Canteen will be on hand at the park offering hot chocolate and hot cider.

Community Shores Bank is the corporate sponsor of the Jingle Bell Parade and lighting of the Christmas tree in Central Park. The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power is the sponsor of the lights and decorations for the Central Park Fountain.  Please contact the Chamber at 616-842-4910 for more information.
