GRAND HAVEN, Mich.Dan Duncan, senior pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, will present the annual “Blessing of the Bikes” on Sunday, May 25 at 11:45 a.m. in the church parking lot at 717 Sheldon Road.

The general public is invited to attend and ride their road bicycles, tricycles, big wheels, motorcycles and scooters to obtain a special blessing.

Bikers and cyclists have attended the blessing for a number of years.  The observance is to provide prayer for safety, joy and fellowship for those cyclists sharing the roadways over the summer months as they ride throughout God’s creation. For further information, contact the church at (616) 842-7980.

A core value of UMCD is to accept people as they are and invite them in for a life-changing journey with Christ.  Founded in 1873 in downtown Grand Haven, Michigan, UMCD moved to its present location at 717 Sheldon Road in February 1962. The church provides a variety of community outreach ministries to women, children, men and families in the area, supports Family Promise and the annual CROP Walk, offers membership in United Methodist Men (UMM) and United Methodist Women (UMW) groups, book and Bible studies, a weekly creative arts and crafts group, plus Christian service projects to ministries in Panama.  Adult educational programs and weekly Wednesday night suppers are provided throughout the year. For further information about UMCD or church membership, contact the church’s administrative office at (616) 842-7980.
