GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- It doesn’t matter if a business is to make a profit or if the business is to change the world, it still needs to be done right. While profit is not the main motivation of nonprofits and community organizations, you must be fiscally solvent to remain in operation.

Loutit District Library (LDL) will offer a free workshop on Tuesday, April 22 from 6-8 p.m. titled How to Start a Non-Profit presented by Will Meier of Parmenter O’Toole law firm and SCORE.

The workshop is designed to guide the successful start-up and development of nonprofit organizations, by focusing nonprofit leaders on the business side of a successful non-profit enterprise.

This workshop includes:
-What you must know before starting a nonprofit
-Understanding dual target markets - the funders and recipients
-How to manage a nonprofit
-Providing direction and good governance
-Achieving effective Board performance
-Financial stewardship

The workshop will be held in LDL’s in Program Room B. To register, visit www.loutitlibrary.org or call 616-842-5560, ext. 232.
