COSMOPS to perform at Loutit District Library April 10

COSMOPS to perform at Loutit District Library April 10

GRAND HAVEN, MI -- The Muskegon Cosmopolitan Male Singers (COSMOPS) will present a selection of songs with a great deal of passion and feeling as the Loutit District Library continues its free Sunday Afternoon Concert Series.

The concert begins at 2:00 p.m. on April 10 on the library’s Upper Level Lobby.

The COSMOPS first performed in 1933 as an octet. Within a year, they had grown into a male chorus of close to 50 singers which competed in in the Chicagoland Music Festival. They took third place honors in that competition. Since then, the group has performed two annual concerts.

The early COSMOPS emphasized classical music, but always have tried to balance performances with a variety of musical styles. The COSMOPS' focus today is on an eclectic show of quality music.

Throughout the 1950's and 1960's the group performed and competed far and wide. It was an active participant in the Michigan Male Chorus Association.
