Centertown Block Party is Sept. 28th

News Release:

Grand Haven, Mich., September, 19, 2011: On Wednesday, Sept. 28th, the public is invited to pig out on pig roast and chill with bowls of chili at the ArtWalk Centertown Block Party. This free event will take place outside The Frame and Mat Shop, 728 Washington Ave. It will run from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will feature live music, free food and onsite artist demonstrations.

“We expect several hundred people to attend the party,” said Dan Borchers, owner of The Frame and Mat Shop, a centertown business and ArtWalk 2011 venue. “There will be tons of great food and drinks made by centertown restaurants, activities for kids and adults, and live music by Barefoot Sunday, a local band that played at JW’s Food & Spirits on Thursdays this past summer.”

While the group plays its eclectic mix of blues and acoustic rock, renowned western Michigan artists, Reb Roberts and Mike Duimstra, will be painting a colorful wall mural. LaBOARDatory, a cool new skate shop in centertown, will also be there decorating longboards and doing fun and funky face painting. And an array of other artists will be creating mosaics, sketching and even sculpting wooden pieces using chainsaws!

“This is going to be one big bash that highlights a great group of artists, plus the eateries and businesses in centertown,” said Steve Loftis, ArtWalk organizer. “We encourage everyone to come enjoy the party with us. There will be something to see and do for everybody–the young, the old and everyone between!”

Anthony’s Kicked Up Catering is donating the pig roast. JW’s Food & Spirits–J-Dub’s–is bringing it’s infamous while chili and chips. One Eye’d Jacks, Rendezvous, Mr. Scrib’s, and Arturo’s are providing sides. Morning Star Café is baking up some fresh desserts and will offer hot tea and coffee. And Lemon Creek Winery will be pouring its collection of sparkling, nonalcoholic beverages.

Other donors involved with this event include Citizen’s Bank, Health Hutt, Verduin’s, Olmsted Design, The Frame and Mat Shop, The Bookman, Lakeshore Pregnancy Center, Great Lakes Health and Wellness, Chiropractic Health Center, Lake Michigan Auto Parts, Bekins and Blarney Castle.
