GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- St. Patrick’s Day festivities come early at Loutit District Library (LDL) as the library’s Sunday Afternoon Concert Series continues on March 8 with the traditional Celtic band "Uneven Ground" (UG).

Uneven Ground is a four-piece traditional Celtic band that blends vocals with instrumentals to bring their listeners on a unique musical journey. Jigs, reels, airs, hornpipes, stories, and songs comprise the band’s traditional repertoire.

The concert will be held on LDL’s upper level lobby area from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Library officials urged the public to come early due to limited seating. LDL opens at 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Funding for LDL’s 2014-15 Sunday Concert Series is generously provided by the Matilda and Harold Crane Donor Advised Fund of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.

Band Members:
Tim Staudacher, a retired Mona Shores orchestra director, is currently a private studio teacher and freelance musician in West Michigan. He holds a string specialist degree from the University of Michigan and enjoys playing musical styles from symphonic to classic rock and blues. Currently, Staudacher is a private instructor for the Grand Haven High School Orchestra. He is a guitarist and mandolin player for Uneven Ground.

Dave Closz is a retired elementary educator from the Fruitport school system. Although he isn't a trained musician, Dave has always loved music and has sung and played guitar since high school days. His love affair with Irish music began when he married an Irish lass from the east side of the state. Dave has always sung in various vocal groups and today, besides being a member of Uneven Ground, he sings in his church choir and plays guitar in the church's contemporary music group. He is also sings bass in the Muskegon Cosmopolitan Male Singers, the Cosmops. Closz provides male vocals and guitar for the band.

Courtney Hutson is a graduate of Mona Shores High School's orchestra and fiddle programs. She performed violin accompaniment on Dave Palmer's newest CD release, "Pussycat." Currently, she is concertmaster for the Shoreline Symphony. Hutson provides female vocals and fiddle for Uneven Ground.

Larry Halverson is the Community Relations Director at the Loutit District Library and hosts the monthly Traditional Irish Music Session at the library. He is instructed in the Irish musical style by performer/songwriter Blayne Chastain and instructors at the Online Academy of Irish Music. Halverson plays high and low D whistle, flute, and bodhran for the band.
