Fall Play at Spring Lake High School

Spring Lake High School Theatre is pleased to announce the first fall play for this school year.

Performed by 9th and 10th graders, HIDING IN THE OPEN by Kira Obolensky is based on the memoirs of Sabina Zimmering.

It is the beginning of World War II and a family of Polish Jews are forced to make life saving decisions to avoid extermination after the German invasion.  The two young teenage girls of the family, having experienced education in a Catholic school, travel to Germany posing as Catholic Poles to survive by working in the factories of the German War machine.  Their survival is rooted in quick thinking all the while dealing with the fear of discovery and death.  Ms. Zimmering did survive and immigrated to the US, studied medicine, became a doctor and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she practiced medicine for 40 years.  An uplifting story of the human spirit.
