Meet Michigan Notable Book author, former crime reporter, tournament pool player, soccer mom, and Detroit Lions fan Mardi Jo Link at Spring Lake District Library. Link will be talking about her memoir Bootstrapper: From Broke to Badass on a Northern Michigan Farm, on Tuesday, June 17, at 7:00 p.m. Bootstrapper was chosen as one of this year’s Michigan Notable Books. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Bootstrapper is the story of how Link’s sense of humor and determination helped her overcome her financial struggles when her marriage of 19 years ends. By acquiring new skills like chicken wrangling and hog butchering, and with the help of her three sons, Link manages to avoid impending foreclosure. Link’s struggles to overcoming hardship and adversity leave her a stronger woman, and her readers with the satisfaction of knowing that hard work pays off.

Link is also the author of the true crime books When Evil Came to Good Hart and Isadore’s Secret, which was named a Michigan Notable Book in 2010.
