Events, News

SPRING LAKE -- Spring Lake District Library is inviting veterans and their families to a special Veterans Day presentation on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.  Guest speaker Dr. James Smither, a history professor at Grand Valley State University, will compare and contrast the experiences of those who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

Those who attend the presentation can also learn more about the Veterans History Project, a nation-wide endeavor to record the individual stories of veterans and the civilians who supported them for posterity. Volunteers are working across the country to gather these recollections to enrich our nation’s understanding of those who have served throughout the years.

Spring Lake District Library is also offering military families the opportunity to virtually visit family members far from home via Skype throughout the month of November. To schedule a Skype appointment call the library at (616) 846-5770, ext. 107

The library is located at 123 E. Exchange Street in Spring Lake. Visit on-line at www.sllib.org.
