Michigan State Park Recreation Passport sales start Friday
News

(WZZM)- A new system for funding Michigan's state parks is about to kick in.  Michigan residents can purchase the state park "Recreation Passport" starting Friday.  The passport is an additional $10 when a person renews their vehicle's license tags.

The fee is less than half of the current charge.

The pass is good at any of Michigan's 98 state parks and recreation areas.  It also covers state boat launches.

Park officials hope the change will generate a big funding increase for parks so buildings, sewers, bridges and other structures can be properly maintained.
