Library Fines Waived for Donations to People Center

SPRING LAKE -- Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all we have to be grateful for and share with those less fortunate. Spring Lake District Library will be hosting a fine amnesty week beginning Nov. 14 to encourage donations to The People Center. Those who donate new paper products or personal care items at the library from Nov. 14 to Nov. 20 can get up to $10 in library fines waived. The donations collected at Spring Lake District Library will go to The People Center in Spring Lake. For each regular size item donated (no sample sizes please), library patrons may have $1 deducted from their overdue fine total. The maximum amount of overdue fines that will be waived is $10.  Patrons must still return any overdue items and pay for lost or damaged items.

Please consider making a donation if you don’t have library fines that could be waived. The demand for the basics of everyday living is greater than ever during difficult financial times. The People Center is a local resource whose stated purpose is “to respond to the needs of area families by providing food, clothing, transitional housing, and to listen during times of emergency and uncertainty.” To find out more about The People Center, visit their website at www.thepeoplecenter.org

For more information call the library at (616) 846-5770, ext. 107. The library is located at 123 E. Exchange St. in Spring Lake.
