Grand Haven hands Rockford first loss

GRAND HAVEN (WZZM) -- In a back-and-forth game, the Grand Haven Buccaneers knocked off the Rockford Rams, 26-23.

The Rams opened the scoring in the second quarter on a Connor Darby TD run. The Bucs would answer quickly when Trent Hitsman ran in for a score.

The game was delayed 30 minutes with Grand Haven's Alec Smith was hurt after making a catch at the Rockford 2-yard line. Rockford would take a 16-14 lead to the half.

Grand Haven quickly regained the lead when Dalton Stenberg scored on a touchdown run, to make it 20-16. The Rams would answer when Mark LaPrarie hit Neil VanderLaan on an 83-yard touchdown strike.

The Bucs took the lead for good when Stenberg ran for his third touchdown of the night. Both Grand Haven and Rockford are now 3-1.
